mp3 quality MUST be:

128 kbps / 44 kHz

no more - no less

128/44 will create an mp3 size of 1MB per minute of play
Anything MORE than 128k is TOO LARGE & will mess up the time codes
Anything LESS than 128k is too low in quality to transcribe

If you’re using iTunes, remember that somem4p files are NOT sharable. Only YOU can open it with your password.

The process to convert non-mp3 files is:

  1. Open file in iTunes
  2. Change your iTunes settings to 128kbps / 44kHz at normal "stereo mode"
(iTunes: Preferences > General > Import Settings > Setting: Custom...)
  3. Create an mp3 from the CD
(iTunes: File > Create New Version > Create MP3 Version)

To create MP3s you need to download the software that will let you ENCODE MP3s from your CDs (or from other audio files):

Once you download, you'll probably be able to start using the software immediately.

PLEASE REMEMBER to encode MP3s at 128 kbps & 44 kHz !!!!!
