(Give Them) Tomorrow
by Tamara K Gross
On the back porch on summer days you'll find her telling stories
Eager ears listen to the tales about the days of glory
She's outlived a family of lifetimes
And says she wants to go Home
Still there's so much she longs to give us
From days of old
She knows we're tomorrow
Someone to follow
We need her yesterdays
To better our today
The future is ours to plan
The power rests in her hands
To give us tomorrow
Quiet now she takes out a book weathered by the ages
Come to life is a whole new world, Voices of the sages
Sitting there with a child on each knee
Her smile is so wise
Pointing down at that leather cover she says
"You teach with your life"
And give them tomorrow
Someone to follow
They need your yesterdays
To better their today
The future belongs to them
The power rests in your hands
To give them tomorrow
Jesus said to the little ones
"Come unto Me"
He gave His life to teach us
So teachers we'll be
And give them tomorrow
Someone to follow
They need our yesterdays
To better their today
The future belongs to them
The power rests in our hands
To give them tomorrow
